For this project we picked a country and learned their culture while picking a popular meal the country eats. I picked Colombia and made a food called Mas Arepas and also made a poem that I put in spanish and English.
Arepas
de Queso Colombia
1.
Mix the (arepa) flour with the salt.
Mezcla la harina con la sal.
2.
Add the hot water and stir until well mixed.
Añade el agua caliente y revuelve hasta bien mezclado.
3. Cover
with plastic wrap and let rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
Cubre con una
envoltura de plástico y dejar resto por diez a quince minutos.

Stir the egg yolk and butter into the dough.
Revuelve la yema y mantequilla en la masa.
5. Turn
dough out onto counter and knead grated cheese into the dough until well
blended.
Vuelta masa hacia fuera sobre y amasa rallado queso en el masa hasta
bien mezclado.
6. Separate
the dough into 10 pieces, and roll each piece into a ball.
Separa la masa en diez piezas y rada cada pieza en una bola.
7. Place
ball of dough between 2 pieces of plastic wrap and flatten with the bottom of a
pot until they are about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and 1/2 inch thick.
Pon la bola de masa en medio dos pedazos de una envoltura de plástico y aplana con el
fondo de un olla hasta su mas o menos 3 ½ pulgada en diámetro y ½ pulgada
grueso.

Melt a half tablespoon of butter in a heavy
skillet (ideally cast iron) and cook arepas in batches, adding more butter if
necessary.
Funde un mitad una cucharada de mantequilla en un pesado sartén y
cocina arepas en hornada, añadir mas mantequilla si necesario.
9. They
should cook about 5 minutes on each side, so that the outside is dry and
crusted, and the inside is creamy and soft.
Lo debería cocina más o menos cinco minutos en cada lado tanto ese el
exterior es seco y con costra y el dentro de es cremoso y suave.
10. Serve hot, with butter.
Serve caliente con mantequilla.
